firstPursuit encourages
men to connect weekly with other men to share common concerns,
read the Bible, and pray for one another. Men are encouraged
to listen carefully with a non-judgmental attitude and only
give advice when requested. As a result, men grow in their
relationships with God and build strong, lasting bonds of
friendship with other men.
firstpursuit follows eight principles from the life and
teaching of Jesus Christ:
- Affirm one another (Rom 1:12; Heb 10:24)
- Be available when others are in need (Phil 2:19,
20)
- Be open (II Cor 6:11-12; James 5:16)
- Be sensitive to the needs of others (John 11:32-36)
- Be honest (II Cor 4:2; Prov 27:17)
- Maintain confidentiality (Prov 28b; Eph 4:29)
- Pray for one another (Phil 1:3-6; II Thes 1:11,12)
- Grow in accountability with one another (Eph 5:21)
firstPursuit strives
to:
- introduce and connect men to
the men’s ministries of local churches.
- meet and mentor men…where
they are and where they’re comfortable (over coffee,
lunch, a round of golf, a hike, a ballgame, etc.). “I've
become just about every sort of servant there is in my
attempts to lead those I meet into a God-saved life.” (I
Cor 9:22, MSG)
- connect men with existing men’s
groups.
- help men start new groups. “And
when two or three of you are together because of Me,
you can be sure that I'll be there." (Matt 18:20,
MSG)
